Beds

In every one of these beds the headboard is the product. Its height is what changes how the bed is used and what it does to the wall behind it, so that is the number to settle first.

Headboard height, and what each one gives you

At 135 cm Tripoli is the tallest we make and Ranger follows at 134: both support you properly sitting up — your head, not just your shoulders — which is what you notice if you read or work in bed. The cost is that the upholstered panel becomes the wall finish behind the bed, so a picture above it will be too high and a window sill or dado rail at a metre will be crossed. Bravo at 130 cm is the compromise. At 120 cm, Bambi and Trieste stay under a sill and leave wall above for art, but support your back rather than your head.

Then the detail, which is the only thing separating them

Ranger runs vertical strap-like elements down the headboard, dividing it into bays. Bambi makes its geometry entirely from stitch lines, which also hold the padding in place so the panel keeps its shape instead of sagging into a pillow. Bravo divides the headboard into vertical panels and is the only bed here offered in leather as well as fabric. Trieste is the plain one — no strap, no stitch pattern, no panel line — and on an unbroken panel that wide the tailoring is the only thing to see, which makes it the version that shows the work rather than avoids it.

The part nobody mentions

A headboard is the one upholstered surface a person leans their head against every night, so hair and skin oils reach it in a way they never reach a sofa back. That makes the fabric a practical decision as much as a visual one: a tight weave or a leather wipes clean, an open loose weave does not. We will say so when you choose.

Materials and ordering

Solid wood frames; upholstered headboards. Any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families where leather is used — genuine leather only — or fabric, and your own fabric (COM) is accepted, so a headboard can be matched to a bench or an armchair in the same room from the same batch. Mattress size, overall dimensions, fabric and finish are confirmed with the order. Measure the wall height and whatever hangs on it before you choose a headboard. Made in our Istanbul workshop.
