Care & Maintenance
Every Sitdesign piece is made to be lived with. A few simple habits keep it looking right for years. Below is the short version for each material; the full guide for each one is linked.
For every material
- Keep the piece at least 30 cm away from radiators and air vents, and out of direct sunlight.
- Blot spills at once with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub.
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth or a vacuum with a soft brush.
- Never use solvents, bleach, abrasive pads or spray polish.
Leather
Sitdesign uses genuine leather only. Dust once a week and clean with a cleaner made for leather at least twice a year. Never use alcohol, household cleaners or saddle soap. Nubuck takes no cream: vacuum it and brush the nap. Full leather guide
Fabric
Vacuum with an upholstery attachment on low power, and turn and swap the cushions. Blot spills with a white cloth, working from the edge inwards. Wash or dry-clean covers only if the fabric's care label allows it. Brush flattened velvet pile in the direction of the nap. Full fabric guide
Wood
Dust with a dry, soft cloth and wipe spills at once. Use trivets under hot dishes and coasters under glasses. On lacquered surfaces use a damp, well-wrung cloth; oiled surfaces are re-oiled locally when needed. Never use silicone spray polish, detergent, steel wool, acetone or steam. Full wood guide
Marble
Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, or warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid, and dry with a soft cloth. Put a coaster under every glass and a trivet under hot dishes. Never use lemon, vinegar or acidic or abrasive cleaners. Full marble guide
Unsure about a stain or finish?
Do not try a strong cleaner first. Write to us with the model name and, for leather, the colour code, and we will tell you what is safe to use.
