A success story that began in 1983:Sitdesign was founded by Öznur Uysal, whobegan her entrepreneurial journey in the Netherlands at the age of 18. What beganwith a single sewing machine has grown into one of the country’s 25 largest furnituremanufacturers.

One of Türkiye’s first female furniture exporters: In 1993, she moved production to Türkiye and founded Sitdesign in Istanbul, becoming the first woman to export leather sofas from Türkiye.

Over 30 years of production and export experience: Today, Sitdesign operates from a 3,000 m² production facility in Istanbul and focuses primarily on leather seating and custom furniture solutions for large-scale projects.

A globally recognized Turkish brand: Exporting to 12 countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Qatar, Dubai, Russia, Tunisia, and India, Sitdesign reaches an annual export volume of $2.5 million.

Custom, project-based production: For the past 15 years, Sitdesign has focused on custom-made furniture for hotels, airports, and residential projects, primarily for wholesale.

Who is Öznur Uysal? – A Brief Introduction

“I started with a sewing machine; my dream was my biggest asset.”

Öznur Uysal is one of Türkiye’s first female furniture exporters and a pioneeringentrepreneur in the sector. She began her journey in the Netherlands at the age of 18with a single sewing machine. Within a few years, she had become one of thecountry’s top 25 furniture manufacturers.

In 1993, she moved production to Türkiye and founded Sitdesign, becoming the first woman to export a leather sofa from Türkiye. Today, her company exports to over 12 countries and specializes in custom, project-based furniture production.

With nearly 40 years of experience in design, production, and international trade, Öznur Uysal has created a respected brand based on quality, innovation, and sustainability. Known as the “big sister” of the furniture industry, Uysal continues to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, especially women, with her vision, resilience, and leadership.
