SUZANNA DINING CHAIR

Suzanna is the low-backed leather chair with concealed casters: 61 × 66 cm and 83 cm high, the lowest back of the three chairs built on this footprint. It is the one specified for boardrooms as often as dining rooms.

83 cm, and why a lower back suits a table of people

Back height changes a room full of chairs more than it changes one chair. At 83 cm Suzanna stays close to the line of the table, so eight of them around a board table do not block the sightlines across it — which is the whole point in a meeting room, and the reason a lower back also works in a dining room with a sideboard or a view behind the table. For comparison, Lopez and Cindy on the same footprint stand at 87 cm, and Mellow at 94 cm.

Concealed casters

The casters are hidden inside the base rather than visible under it, so the chair reads as a dining chair and moves like an office chair. On a heavy leather chair that is a practical gain: it is pushed and pulled rather than lifted, which is how upholstery survives daily use. The honest limits are the same as for any caster: on a hard smooth floor the chair can creep away as you sit down, and on a thick rug it will not roll at all.

Straight lines in hide

Suzanna is the architectural one of the three — defined edges rather than the flowing curve of Lopez. In leather that is the more exacting choice: a straight seam over a long edge shows any wander, and hide, which stretches in one direction and not the other, has to be cut on the right axis to hold the line. The seam detailing is the only drawing on the chair, so it is where the work shows.

61 × 66 cm: the arithmetic

Allow about 65 cm of table edge per person — a 280 cm table takes four down each side — and around 80 cm of clear floor behind to pull out and sit. Measure from the floor to the underside of your table top and compare it with the arm height before ordering.
