VINICOLE CABINET

Vinicole is a tall walnut cabinet with three-dimensional geometric doors, on a metal base. 119.4 × 52 × 178 cm — the deepest of our tall cabinets, which is what makes it the one that actually swallows things.

178 cm, and what that height means

At 178 cm the top of the cabinet is above eye level for most people. That has two consequences worth knowing before you order. The top shelf is out of comfortable reach, so it is for what you use rarely rather than daily, and the piece reads as architecture against the wall rather than as a surface — there is no usable top. In exchange you get vertical storage in a small footprint: 119 cm of wall carries what a 240 cm sideboard would. If you want a top you can put something on, Charyton at 159 cm is the piece.

52 cm deep

Deeper than the others in this group, which is the difference between storing plates and storing serving dishes, files and boxes. Check it against the walkway: a 52 cm cabinet with a door that swings needs about a metre of clear floor in front of it.

Doors with real relief

The geometric fronts are shaped, not printed or applied, so each door has actual depth and throws its own shadow. Shaping solid stock means the grain has to be read as the faces turn, and on a 178 cm door the pattern has to stay true over the full height — a long door is also the one most likely to move, so the timber has to be properly dried before it is cut. The same door construction appears on the Lavor sideboard, if you want the two to sit in the same room.

119.4 × 52 × 178 cm; solid wood body with natural walnut veneer, on a metal base. Made to order, so dimensions and the internal division are set during the order. Finish and metal finish specified per project. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.

A dining room, a hallway with the height to carry it, a boutique hotel, a restaurant, an elegant office. It needs ceiling height — in a room with a low ceiling a 178 cm cabinet feels jammed in.
