CHARYTON CABINET

Charyton is the tall cabinet you can still use the top of: at 159 cm it stops below eye level, which the 178 cm cabinets do not. Four doors with shaped geometric fronts in natural walnut, on brass or golden bronze legs. 124 × 49 × 159 cm.

159 cm, and why it is the useful height

This is the dimension that separates Charyton from Vinicole and Sirius, both 178 cm. At 159 cm the top of the cabinet is at or just below eye level, so it works as a surface — a lamp, a picture leaning against the wall, a tray — and the upper shelf inside is still within comfortable reach. At 178 cm you gain storage and lose both of those. Neither is better; it depends on whether the cabinet is a container or a piece of furniture you use.

Four doors across 124 cm

The widest of the three, and divided into four doors rather than two — which means each door is narrow, so the swing is short and the cabinet works in a tighter space than its width suggests. It also means four fronts have to carry one geometric pattern across the full width, and the hinge lines have to be exact: a millimetre of drift on one door shifts the pattern against its neighbour.

Brass or golden bronze

Brass is brighter and more classical; golden bronze is deeper and quieter. Unless lacquered, both darken slowly over the years — the appeal for some, the reason to ask for a protected finish for others, and we will explain both before the order. Against natural walnut either reads warm, which is the opposite of what the black base on Sirius does.

Where it belongs

A luxury residence, a dining room, a stylish restaurant, a boutique hotel, a refined office. At 49 cm deep it is the one of the three that will also take a hallway.
