Anna is the barstool with straps across the back. A generously padded seat on a solid wood frame, upholstered in fabric or leather, with the strap detail that runs through the house — the Mellow chair, the Bravo bench, the Ranger bed.

The straps, and why they are on the back

A barstool stands clear in the room, usually with its back to whoever walks in — so the back is the face it shows, and that is where the detail belongs. Making it is the hard part: each strap has to be the same width, set at the same spacing, and run straight over a padded surface that moves under the hand as you work. Hide stretches in one direction and barely in the other, so every strap is cut with the grain direction in mind and the whole set is laid out before any of them is fitted, because a strap applied over padding cannot be nudged straight afterwards.

A seat padded for long sittings

A bar seat takes your full weight on a small area with your feet unsupported, which is why thin padding on a stool becomes uncomfortable faster than on a chair. The seat here is deeply padded for exactly that, and the solid wood frame is what keeps a well-padded seat from feeling unstable when someone leans sideways or climbs on with one foot.

Seat height, and the number to send us

Leave 25 to 30 cm between the top of the seat and the underside of the counter: a 90 cm kitchen island wants a seat at about 65 cm, a 105 to 110 cm bar counter about 75 cm. Anna is made to order, so the seat is set to your counter — send the counter height and the depth of any overhang.

Made to order; seat height set to your counter. Solid wood frame; fabric or leather — any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families for the straps or the whole stool — and your own fabric (COM) is accepted. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.

A modern dining counter, a hotel bar, a stylish café, a kitchen island. In a room that already has the strap detail on a bench or a bed, it is the piece that completes the set.
