WINDSOR SOFA

A classic silhouette built as separate units — add, remove or rearrange, finished on every side.

In context

Windsor takes a traditional sofa silhouette and builds it as separate units. Shown in black leather, it has the structured back and defined arms of a classic piece, but the elements attach and detach, so the same sofa can sit in a room as a compact two- or three-seat piece and be extended later without replacing anything.

The modular part

This is the reason to choose Windsor over a fixed frame. Each element is upholstered and finished on all sides, including the back, so a unit can stand free in the middle of a room rather than only against a wall. Units join to run straight along a wall or turn a corner, and they come apart again for a move, a stairwell or a reconfigured floor plan — which is why it works in hospitality projects where the layout changes with the season.

Leather

Genuine leather throughout; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Black is shown, and the piece can be ordered in any of seventy-six shades across twelve leather families, or in fabric. On a modular sofa the hide has to be cut from the same batch across every unit or the elements will not read as one piece — that is handled at production, not at assembly.

Construction

Kiln-dried beech frame per unit, hand-assembled and dried before upholstery. High-resilience foam with a quality spring system in the seat. Stitching and cushion configuration are chosen at the time of order; COM projects are accepted.

Sizes

Produced to order. The number of units, the width of each and the seat depth are all set per project, so the final run length is whatever the wall allows rather than a fixed figure.

Where it belongs

Rooms that will not stay the same: a long open-plan living space, a hotel lounge, a reception floor, an apartment where the furniture has to move. Finished on the back, so it can also divide a room instead of lining one.
