Sky is the wide barstool with a full back: a broad seat, a back you can actually lean against, fabric upholstery and metal legs. It is the stool for sitting at a counter for an hour rather than perching at one for five minutes.

Seat height is the only measurement that matters

Get this wrong and nothing else helps. The rule is to leave 25 to 30 cm between the top of the seat and the underside of the worktop — so a 90 cm kitchen island wants a seat at about 65 cm, and a 105 to 110 cm bar counter wants about 75 cm. A stool 10 cm too tall puts your knees into the cabinet; 10 cm too low and you eat with your chin on the counter. Sky is made to order, so tell us the counter height and the seat is set to it — and if there is an overhang, send that too, because a wide seat has to fit under it.

A full back, and what it costs

A back is what turns a stool into a chair: it supports your lower back so you can sit through a meal rather than a coffee. The trade-off is that a stool with a full back cannot tuck away under the counter — it stands in the room, so you see it from every angle and it takes floor space when nobody is sitting on it. If the stools need to disappear, Rope with its low back is the honest choice.

A wide seat on a narrow footprint

A broad, generously padded seat on a stool is harder than it looks: the wider the seat, the further your weight sits from the centre of the base, so the leg geometry has to be set out to stay stable when someone leans sideways or climbs on with one foot. That is why the legs are engineered to the seat rather than taken from a standard frame.
