MYRA DINING CHAIR

Myra is the angular one: a geometric frame with sloped arms and a deep cushioned seat, on solid wood legs. 57 × 54 × 84 cm — and it has arms at a width where most chairs do not.

Arms on a 57 cm chair

Arms change a dining chair more than any other feature. They make a two-hour dinner noticeably easier, and they are the reason a chair sometimes will not go under the table: the arm has to clear the underside of the top. Measure from your floor to the underside of the table and compare it with the arm height before ordering — a table with a deep apron or a thick top is where this goes wrong, and it cannot be fixed afterwards. At 57 cm wide, allow about 62 cm of table edge per person.

A sharp frame around a soft seat

The geometry is the point: straight edges and defined angles, with a deep cushion inside them. That combination is harder than it looks, because upholstery naturally wants to round off. A crisp edge has to be built — the padding is cut and the cover is pulled to a defined line rather than wrapped over a curve — and if it is done loosely the whole chair goes soft and the design disappears. It is the same problem as a plain front on a cabinet: nothing to hide behind.

84 cm: the lowest back in the range

At 84 cm Myra has the lowest back of our dining chairs, against 94 cm for Mellow. That keeps the chairs below the line of the table and the sightlines across the room open — the right choice where a sideboard, a view or a run of art sits behind the table and should not be cut in half by six chair backs.

57 × 54 × 84 cm. Solid wood legs; structured frame with a cushioned seat and back. Fabric or leather — any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families — and your own fabric (COM) is accepted. Genuine leather only. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.
