London is the English drawing-room sofa: scroll arms that roll outward, a deep-buttoned back, and a seat set low and long. At 102 cm it is the deepest sofa we make in this family, which is why it reads as generous rather than formal — it is a sofa people end up staying on.
Scroll arms and buttoning
The scroll is built over the frame rather than padded on afterwards, so it keeps its curve instead of flattening on the outside edge where people lean. The back is buttoned by hand, one at a time, with the pleats falling toward the seat.
Frame and filling
Solid hardwood frame. The cushions are high-resilience foam, which on a seat this deep matters more than usual — a soft filling in a 102 cm seat collapses into a hollow and the sofa stops supporting the lower back.
Leather or fabric
Upholstered to order from seventy-six shades across twelve leather families, or from our fabric range. Stitching and leg finish are chosen at the time of order. London takes a matt fabric particularly well — the buttoning reads as texture rather than shine.
Sizes
Three standard widths, listed above. Each can be made narrower or wider and the depth changed; the scroll and the button spacing are re-set with it so the proportions hold.
