Edinburgh sits low — 69 cm to the top of the back, among the lowest lines in our range — with curved arms and a deep 99 cm seat. The form is classical in its detailing and modern in its height, which is what gives it the relaxed look. Shown in black and in blue-grey.
Why 69 cm
A back this low changes the posture: you sit back into the sofa rather than up against it, and the depth carries the support that the height does not. It also changes the room. At 69 cm the sofa is below every sightline, so a view, a window or a wall of art stays visible across it — and a low sofa makes a normal ceiling look higher than an 80 cm back does.
The chair is taller
Deliberately: the single seat is built at 85 cm, sixteen centimetres above the sofa. An armchair is usually used for sitting upright — reading, talking, working — so it is given a proper back, while the sofa is for lying along. If a matching height is wanted for a symmetrical scheme, the chair can be made at 69 cm to order.
Construction
Kiln-dried beech frame, hand-assembled and dried before upholstery so it stays still in a heated room. High-resilience foam padding. Upholstered to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric, with stitching and cushion detail specified at the time of order.
Sizes
Three widths, listed above. Adjustable per project — including the seat height, which is the dimension most often changed on this model.
Where it belongs
A room with something to look at: a sea view, a long window, a hung wall. Also a low-ceilinged apartment, where it buys back the height a conventional sofa takes.
