DELTA DINING CHAIR

Delta is the plain, firm dining chair: a wooden frame, an upholstered seat and back, and high-density foam rather than a soft cushion. 55 × 59 × 87 cm.

Firm foam is the point, not a compromise

A dining chair and a lounge chair need opposite things. You sit upright at a table for two hours, so the seat has to hold you at a constant height — a soft cushion feels welcoming for ten minutes and then lets you sink, which puts your weight on the edge of the seat and your spine out of line. High-density foam stays where it is put. It is also the foam that lasts: a soft seat used twice a day loses its shape in a couple of years, which is the one failure people actually notice in a dining chair.

55 × 59 cm: the middle of the range

Narrow enough to seat five down a 300 cm table rather than four, deep enough to sit back in. Allow about 60 cm of table edge per person and around 75 cm of clear floor behind the table to pull the chair out. Check the underside of your table as well — the seat has to pass under the top, which a deep apron can prevent.

Where it sits between the others

Delta is the one without a feature: no strap, no leather panel, no casters, no arms. That makes it the chair to buy in numbers — for a long table, a restaurant, a meeting room — and the one to specify when the table or the room is already doing the talking. 55 × 59 × 87 cm. Solid wood frame; upholstered seat and back with high-density foam. Fabric or leather — any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families — and your own fabric (COM) is accepted. Genuine leather only. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.
