Charlie is a modular sectional on slim wooden legs — the only one in this group where the legs are timber rather than metal, which is a bigger difference in a room than it sounds.

Wooden legs instead of metal

Metal legs read cool and technical; timber legs read warm, and they let the sofa belong to the same family as a wooden coffee table, a sideboard or a floor. That is the choice to make first, because it is the one thing on a sofa you cannot change later without re-making the base. If the room already has walnut or oak in it, timber legs tie the scheme together; against black joinery and a dark floor, metal legs such as Sky's are the better match. The legs can be finished to match a piece from our wood collection in the same room.

Modular, which means you specify a layout, not a size

Charlie is built from modules, so the question is not how big it is but which pieces it is made of: corner, armless seats, a chaise, a footstool. That is what lets it fit a room rather than nearly fit one — and it is also what you have to decide before anything is made. Send a plan with the door, the window and the television marked, and we will set the module layout against it. Modules can be added or left out to suit the space.

Left-hand or right-hand

A corner is handed and cannot be swapped once made. Stand where you come into the room, face the sofa, and tell us whether the long side runs away to your left or your right. It is the most common ordering mistake in sectionals and the one that cannot be corrected afterwards.

Materials and sizes

Made to order; overall dimensions depend on the module layout and are confirmed with your quotation. Fabric or leather — any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families — and your own fabric (COM) is accepted. Timber and finish for the legs specified per project. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.

Where it belongs

A living room with wood already in it, an apartment, a family room, a hotel suite. It is the warm, quiet option in a group of sectionals that mostly aim to make a statement.
