Brighton is a Chesterfield with loose seat cushions. The back and arms are deeply buttoned in the traditional way, but instead of a tight tufted bench the seat is oversized and soft, and the sofa stands on hand-turned legs. Shown in brown leather.
Buttoned back, soft seat
This is the one real decision behind the model. A full Chesterfield has a firm, tufted seat, which looks correct and sits firm. Brighton keeps the buttoned back for the look and gives the seat back to comfort — oversized cushions you can actually sink into, under a traditional silhouette. It is the Chesterfield for people who like how they look and not how they sit.
Hand-turned legs
Turned on a lathe one at a time, then finished to the leather. Visually they lift the sofa off the floor; practically they are why a 260 cm buttoned sofa does not read as a solid block in the room.
Construction
Kiln-dried beech frame, hand-assembled and dried before upholstery. High-density foam under the tufting to hold the diamonds square, with the seat specified softer. Buttons pulled and tied by hand. Upholstered to order from seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric.
Sizes
Three widths, listed above, all 97 cm deep and 72 cm high. Adjustable per project; the two-seater is 230 cm, only 30 cm narrower than the three.
Where it belongs
A family living room, a hotel suite, an executive lounge — anywhere a traditional sofa has to be sat in all evening rather than admired.
