Swing stands on legs set at an angle. They lean rather than drop straight, so the table reads as leaning into the floor from every side — a solid wooden top, 240 × 110 cm, on a base that is doing something visible.
Angled legs
An angled leg has to be jointed at a compound angle where it meets the top, which is the difficult part: a straight leg is one square cut, an angled one is a joint that has to be exact in two planes at once or the table rocks. Four of them have to lean at identical angles, because the eye reads them against each other across the length of the table.
Legs, not pedestals — worth knowing
Swing has a leg near each corner, which gives it the stability of a four-legged table and the best behaviour on an uneven floor, but it means the end places sit against a leg rather than clear of it. If the ends have to be fully usable, Serenity, Papillon or Prisma on pedestals is the better answer. We would rather say so than have it discovered after delivery.
How many it seats
240 × 110 cm seats eight comfortably along the sides and ten with the ends used at a squeeze. Allow 60 to 65 cm of table edge per person and about 90 cm of clear floor behind each chair.
Materials and sizes
Dimensions listed above; made to order, with length, width and height adjustable. The leg angle is re-drawn with any change of size rather than kept fixed, so the base keeps its stance. Wood species and finish specified per project.
Where it belongs
A modern or transitional dining room, a restaurant, an executive dining room. It is a wood table carried entirely by its joinery, which suits a room where the materials are meant to show.
