SOPHIA SOFA

Sophia is a deep seat with a low back cushion and matching scatter cushions on top of it. The arms are clean-lined and flat, marked only by a run of stitching, and at 102 cm front to back the sofa is one of the deeper pieces in the range. Shown in grey leather.

Depth and a low back

102 cm of seat with a low back cushion is a specific combination: it is built for sitting back and sideways rather than upright. The scatter cushions are part of the design, not decoration — they are what let you sit forward when you want to, and they are supplied with the sofa rather than left to the room.

The stitch on the arm

The arms carry no piping and no buttons; a single line of stitching runs along them, and that line is the only drawing on the piece. It has to be dead straight along the full length of the arm and it has to stay straight after the foam settles, which is why the arm is built up over a frame rather than filled.

Leather or fabric

Sophia is made to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric, including a fabric you supply yourself. Genuine leather only. On a plain, deep form the hide carries the piece, so we would send samples rather than let a shade be chosen from a screen.

Sizes

Three widths, listed above. The single seat is built taller, at 85 cm, for upright support when it is used on its own. All dimensions adjustable per project.

Where it belongs

A living room where the sofa is used all evening, a hotel suite, a lounge. It needs floor in front of it — at 102 cm deep, a coffee table has to sit further out than usual.
