Savanna is a broad rectangular top on an open metal frame built from interlocking triangles. The base is the design: a geometric structure you look through rather than a solid support, which is what keeps a large table from closing off the middle of a room.
Why triangles
A triangle is the only shape that cannot be pushed out of square without bending its members, which is why bridges and roof trusses are built from them. Here the same principle lets the frame be made from thin sections and still carry a wide top without wobble or a cross-brace in the way of anyone's feet. The structure is honest — it does what it looks like it does.
A base meant to be seen
On most coffee tables the base is something to be hidden. Here it is the reason to buy the table, so it is worth placing accordingly: over a plain floor or a flat-weave rug, where the frame casts a shadow and the geometry reads, rather than on a deep pile that swallows the lower half of it.
The top
Savanna is made both with a glass top — which makes the frame below fully visible and keeps a small room open — and with a solid top in a dark, understated finish, which turns the table into a quieter horizontal plane. The two give noticeably different results from the same base, and the choice is made with the order. Glass shows every mark and needs wiping; a dark solid top is the easier surface to live with.
Materials and sizes
Made to order. Top material and finish, metal finish and dimensions are specified per project. Tell us the sofa it will sit in front of and we will confirm the proportion before quoting.
Where it belongs
A contemporary living room, a loft, an office lounge. It is a quiet piece with a strong structure, which makes it a good choice in a room that already has a strong sofa.
