RAMSES SOFA

Ramses is the most decorated piece in the range. A deep-buttoned back carried to 86 cm, rolled arms, nailhead trim along the arm and base edges, and turned antique-finish legs. Upholstered in full-grain leather with a patina finish applied by hand, shown here in burgundy.

The nailhead trim

The studs are set individually by hand along the leading edges. Spacing is the whole test: set by eye they wander, and on a curved arm the wander is obvious. They are also a commitment — the line of studs is what makes this sofa read as traditional, so it is not a detail that can be added or removed later.

A patina finish, not a colour

The leather is full-grain and hand-finished so the surface is already shaded rather than flat: darker in the recesses, lighter on the raised surfaces. That is why the burgundy above looks like an old hide rather than a dyed one. It also means two deliveries of the same shade will not be identical, which is the nature of the finish and not a fault.

An 86 cm back

Tall by our standards, and deliberately so: the buttoned surface is the feature here and height gives it room. It also gives real lumbar support, which makes Ramses one of the better sofas in the range for a room where people sit upright and talk for an hour.

Construction

Solid kiln-dried beech frame, engineered against warping. High-resilience foam in layers — comfortable but firm, as a buttoned back requires. Colour and size are made to order; we would always send leather samples before confirming a patina shade.

Sizes

Three widths, listed above, all 98 cm deep and 86 cm high. Adjustable per project; stud spacing and button spacing are both re-set with any change of width.

Where it belongs

A panelled study, a cigar lounge, an executive office, a luxury retail interior. It is the least quiet sofa we make and it should be chosen for that reason.
