PURE ARMCHAIR

Pure is a sculptural chair drawn for fabric. The contours are bold and the proportions generous — 85 cm wide, 92 cm deep, 100 cm high — with a shaped back that rises to full height and no applied detail anywhere on it. Shown in fabric.

Fabric first

Most of our chairs are drawn for leather and offered in fabric. This one is the other way round: the form has broad, gently curved panels that a textile covers in one piece and that take a textured weave without the pattern fighting the shape. In leather the same chair reads harder and flatter — possible, and specified by some projects, but fabric is where the design was going.

A 100 cm back

Tall enough to support the shoulders and most of the head, with a deep 92 cm seat under it. That makes Pure a chair for long sitting rather than a decorative one, and it also makes it a tall object — in a room with a low ceiling it will dominate, and a lower chair such as Zoe or Platt is the better answer.

Shape without decoration

No piping, no buttons, no visible frame. The seams are the only drawing on the piece, so the panels have to be cut to land the stitch lines where the eye expects them and the curves have to stay crisp after the foam settles. Hand-cut and eased over a solid kiln-dried beech frame.

Fabric or leather

High-density foam cushioning. Our fabric range, a fabric you supply yourself, or any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Stitching and cushion firmness specified at the time of order.

Where it belongs

A refined living room, a boutique lounge, a hotel suite. It is a statement chair, and in a room that already has one it will compete rather than complement.
