In context

Prisma dining table with dining chairs in a dining room

Prisma stands on twin panel legs joined by slim metal crossbars. The top is a plain rectangle with a lightly detailed edge, 240 × 110 cm, and the base is two flat planes with metal drawn between them — wood and metal in one structure.

Panels instead of legs

A solid panel at each end spreads the load across its whole width, so the table stands without corner legs and without an apron under the top. That leaves the sides completely clear: chairs slide in anywhere along the length, and nobody has a leg between their knees. The panels also give the table a different face from the end than from the side, which a four-legged table does not have.

The metal crossbars

Thin bars run between the two panels. They are what stops the table racking lengthwise — two flat panels on their own would flex — and they do it with almost no visual weight, so the space under the table stays open. Their spacing is set to the length of the table, and it is reset if the length changes.

How many it seats

240 × 110 cm seats eight comfortably — three a side, one at each end — and ten when people sit closer. The panels sit inboard of the ends, so the end places are usable. Allow about 90 cm of clear floor behind each chair.

Materials and sizes

Dimensions listed above; made to order, with length, width and height adjustable. Wood species, finish and metal tone are specified per project.

Where it belongs

A contemporary dining room, a meeting room, a restaurant, an open-plan apartment. The geometry is quiet, which makes it one of the easier tables in the range to put in a room that already has something strong in it.
