Piano is named for its legs. Slender metal legs run out of the underside of each armrest and continue the line of the arm down to the floor, so the frame and the support read as one drawing rather than a body set on feet. Shown in tan, burgundy, red and cream leather.
The leg detail
Most sofas hide their legs or treat them as an afterthought. Here the metal is part of the silhouette, which means the arm has to be built to meet it exactly — a few millimetres out and the line breaks. From the side the sofa looks almost suspended; from the front the legs disappear and the arm looks thinner than it is.
Seat and back
Deep cushions over a sprung seat, with an 80 cm back on the two- and three-seaters. The single seat is built 5 cm taller at 85 cm — a deliberate difference, so that a chair used on its own gives more shoulder support than one in a row.
Leather or fabric
Made to order from seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or from our fabric range. Genuine leather only. On a plain form with a metal line through it, the leather colour carries the piece — the cream and the burgundy versions above read as two different designs.
Sizes
Three standard widths, listed above. Adjustable per project; the leg position is re-set with the arm so the line stays continuous at any width.
Where it belongs
A contemporary living room, a design office, a showroom. It needs light under it to work, so it is better on a hard floor or a low-pile rug than on a deep one.
