PAPILLON SIDEBOARD

Papillon is the sideboard with no catalogue size. It is built to the length of the wall it will stand against, in walnut, oak or anigre, and it is the storage piece that belongs with the Papillon Dining Table.

Made to the wall, not to a size

Width, height and the internal division — shelves, drawers or a combination — are all decided during the order. That is the point of this piece rather than a service we add: the others in this collection are drawn at a fixed length, and a 240 or 250 cm carcass either fits the wall between two openings or it does not. Give us the wall and we will work to it. In practice the useful dimensions to send are the clear width between obstructions, the ceiling or dado height above, and the depth you can give up to the walkway.

A matched pair with the table

Specified together, the sideboard and the Papillon dining table carry the same timber, the same cut and the same finish — from the same batch of veneer where the sizes allow. Matching two pieces after the fact is the thing that usually cannot be done: timber bought a year apart will not be the same colour.

Papillon belongs to our wood collection: walnut, oak and anigre. Carcass and doors are finished by hand, and the exact timber and finish are confirmed with your quotation.

Craftsmanship and lead time

Sitdesign has made furniture in its own Istanbul workshop since 1983. Every piece is assembled, sanded and finished by the same team, and nothing leaves the workshop before it has been checked by hand. Wood pieces are typically ready in 6–8 weeks; the exact lead time depends on the scope of the project.

A dining room with an awkward wall, an alcove, a run between two doorways, a project where the sideboard has to match a table already specified.
