NORWICH ARMCHAIR

Norwich is the club chair: 92 cm wide, 95 cm deep, 90 cm high, with deep loose cushions, rolled arms and nailhead trim along the edges, in full-grain leather. Broad and low rather than tall and upright — the proportions of a chair meant to be occupied for an evening. Shown in cream and black.

Broad and deep

95 cm of depth with a 90 cm back is a lounging proportion. You sit well back into it, the rolled arms fall at the right height to rest on, and at 92 cm wide there is room to shift position. It is one of the larger chairs in our range, and it is not an accent piece — a pair of them will fill a room.

Full-grain leather and nailheads

Full-grain leather means the grain is left as it came, so the surface is already varied and will darken unevenly at the seat and arm fronts. On a club chair that is the intended end state, not wear. The nailheads are set individually along the leading edges, where even spacing is the whole test — placed by eye they drift, and on a rolled arm the drift is obvious.

Deep cushions on a solid frame

Solid kiln-dried beech frame. The cushions are plush but built on high-density foam, which is what keeps a 95 cm seat usable: a soft filling at this depth hollows in the middle within a year and the chair stops supporting you where it should.

Leather

Made to order in any of seventy-six shades across twelve leather families, or in fabric. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Leather finish, stitching and cushion firmness specified at the time of order.

Where it belongs

A library, a reading corner, a hotel lounge, a bar, a study. In cream it is a formal piece; in black or a dark brown it becomes the traditional club chair it is drawn from.
