In context
Mushroom stands on four cylindrical legs — round columns rather than square or tapered ones — under a 255 cm top with softly rounded edges. Everything on it is curved, which is unusual on a dining table of this size and is the whole point of the model.
Cylinders instead of legs
A round column has no edge to catch a shin, no corner to show a scuff, and the same profile from every direction, so the table looks identical from any angle in the room. It is also harder to make than a square leg: a cylinder shows every deviation along its length, and four of them have to match exactly.
Four legs — know this before choosing
Unlike our pedestal tables, Mushroom has a leg near each corner. That means the two end places sit against a leg rather than clear of it, and the chairs nearest the corners have less room. In exchange it is the most stable form there is, and the one that takes an uneven floor best. If end seats matter more, Papillon or Serenity on twin pedestals is the better answer.
How many it seats
255 × 105 cm seats eight comfortably along the sides — four a side — with the ends usable at a squeeze. Allow 60 to 65 cm of table edge per person and about 90 cm of clear floor behind each chair.
Materials and sizes
255 × 105 × 75 cm as drawn; made to order, with length, width and height adjustable. The leg diameter is re-set with the size so the proportion holds. Wood species and finish specified per project; the finish is matte, which on a dining table hides fingerprints and wipe marks that a gloss shows.
Where it belongs
A family dining room, an apartment, a restaurant, a design-led hotel. The rounded forms make it one of the few large dining tables that suits a room with children in it.
