In context

Two Mia armchairs in cognac leather in a dark lounge

Mia is a soft shell on slim metal legs. The upholstery is drawn as one curved volume with no applied detail anywhere, and the legs are thin enough that the shell appears to sit above the floor rather than on it. 84 cm wide, 85 cm deep, 78 cm high. Shown in brown, cognac, dark brown and dark grey.

The legs do the work

A soft rounded chair set directly on the floor reads as heavy; the same chair lifted on slim metal reads as light. That is the whole trick of this piece, and it is why the legs have to be as thin as the structure allows while still carrying a full leather chair. They are the only hard element on it.

Nothing applied

No piping, no buttons, no straps, no visible frame. The seams are the only drawing, which means the panels have to be cut so the stitch lines land where the eye expects them and the curve has to stay crisp after the foam settles. It is cut and eased by hand over a kiln-dried beech frame.

Leather or fabric

High-density foam cushioning. Made to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric, including a fabric you supply yourself. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Stitching and cushion firmness specified at the time of order.

Proportions

84 × 85 × 78 cm — nearly square in plan, so it can be placed at any angle and still look deliberate. Adjustable per project.

Where it belongs

A modern living room, an executive office, a hotel lounge, a hospitality project. It needs light under it to work, so a hard floor or a low-pile rug suits it better than a deep one.
