Melanie is the corner sofa with a higher seat, on slim metal legs. The raised seat height is the reason to choose it, and it is a practical reason rather than a stylistic one.

A higher seat is easier to get out of

Most of the comfort talk about sofas is about sinking in. Getting up again is the part nobody mentions, and it is decided by seat height: a low, deep seat asks your knees and thighs to lift your whole weight, which is tiring for anyone with a bad knee, a bad back, or simply more years. A raised seat lets you stand up from it almost as you would from a dining chair. If the sofa is for a household where that matters — or for a hotel or a lounge where everyone has to be able to use it — this is the one to look at. The trade-off is honest: it is less of a sofa to curl up on than Isabella, which is built low on purpose.

Slim metal legs

Thin metal legs lift the body clear of the floor, so you see floor underneath and the sofa reads lighter than its footprint — which is what keeps a corner sofa from looking like a block in a medium-sized room. It also means the floor under it can be cleaned, which a sofa sitting on a solid plinth does not allow.

Left-hand or right-hand — settle this first

A corner sofa is handed, and once it is made it cannot be swapped. Stand where you come into the room, face the sofa, and tell us whether the long side runs away to your left or your right. Send a plan with the door, the window and the television marked. This is the most common ordering mistake in corner sofas and the one we cannot correct afterwards.

Made to order; overall dimensions depend on the configuration and are confirmed with your quotation. Fabric or leather — any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families — and your own fabric (COM) is accepted. Metal finish specified per project. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.
