Jackson has an exposed wood frame and leather straps with buckles down each side. The upholstery sits inside the frame rather than wrapping it, so the chair reads as two things joined — a timber structure and a soft leather cushion — instead of one padded volume. Shown in brown, dark brown and cognac.
The buckles
The side straps are cut, stitched and buckled by hand. They are not decoration: they are what visually holds the cushion into the frame, which is why the strap line has to sit level on both sides and the buckles have to land at the same height. It is a saddlery detail on a piece of furniture, and it is the reason this chair looks made rather than moulded.
Frame on show
Leaving the beech visible means it has to be joinery rather than upholstery work — every joint is cut and fitted precisely because none of it is covered. It also means the chair can be re-upholstered later without touching the frame. The timber is kiln-dried before anything goes on it, so it stays still in a heated room.
Leather
Generously padded over high-density foam, upholstered to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Leather type, stitching and cushion firmness are specified at the time of order.
Proportions
79 cm wide, 90 cm deep, 80 cm high — narrow across the front but deep front to back, so it takes little wall space and still gives a full lounge seat. Adjustable per project.
Where it belongs
A reading corner, a boutique lounge, an executive office, beside a fireplace. It suits rooms with wood, wool and natural materials; next to glass and steel the strapwork looks out of place.
