Iris puts a textured fabric and a smooth leather on the same chair. The contrast is the design — one surface absorbs light and one reflects it, so the form reads differently depending on where you stand. Shown in blue-grey, dark grey and black.
Two materials on one frame
Mixing them is harder than using either alone. Fabric and leather stretch differently, so the panels have to be cut and tensioned separately and the seam where they meet has to stay straight after both have settled. They also age differently: the leather will darken and gain a sheen while the fabric will not, which over years turns the contrast from a design decision into a record of use. That is intended, and worth knowing before choosing.
Where each one goes
The split is specified with the order, and it has practical logic: leather where hands and arms rest, because it wipes clean and takes the wear; fabric where you sit and lean, because it breathes and stays warmer to the touch. A single-material version in either is also possible.
Materials
High-density foam over a kiln-dried beech frame, hand-assembled. Any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, our fabric range, or a fabric you supply yourself. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product.
Proportions
85 cm wide, 80 cm deep, 75 cm high — wider than it is deep, which gives a broad, open seat rather than an enveloping one. Adjustable per project.
Where it belongs
A room that needs one piece with texture in it: a plain living room, a design-led lounge, a hotel suite. In the blue-grey above it is the only coloured thing in our armchair range, and it is chosen for that.
