INFINITY COFFEE TABLE

Marble and wood meeting on one top, on slim metal legs — three materials, one plane.

Infinity puts marble and wood on the same top. The two materials meet on the surface rather than being used in separate parts of the table, and the whole thing stands on slim metal legs. Three materials, one plane.

Stone and timber on one surface

This is the difficult part and the reason to choose the table. Marble and wood expand and move at different rates, so the joint between them has to be cut and set to allow for it — a tight joint looks perfect on delivery and opens within a year in a heated room. Done properly the line between the two stays clean and becomes the drawing on the table: cool, veined stone against warm, open grain.

Slim metal legs

Metal rather than timber, kept as thin as the load allows. A stone-and-wood top is heavy, and the usual answer is a heavy base — which makes the table look like a block. Thin metal legs carry the weight and disappear instead, so the top appears to float and the floor stays visible underneath. In a small room that is worth more than it sounds.

The stone is never the same twice

Marble is quarried, so the veining on your table will not be the veining in the photograph. That is the point of a stone top rather than a printed one, and it is the thing to settle before ordering: we can name the stone and show you the slab, but we cannot reproduce a pattern.

Materials and sizes

Made to order. The stone, the wood species, the metal finish and the dimensions are all specified per project. Ask us for the current stone options rather than choosing from a screen — marble photographs darker and flatter than it looks in a room.

Where it belongs

A contemporary living room, a hotel lounge, an office reception. It suits a plain sofa, because the top is already doing two things; against patterned upholstery it becomes busy.
