In context
Helen is a plain contemporary sofa, upholstered and finished on all four sides. Shown in taupe — photographed from the front, the side, the rear three-quarter and straight on from the back, which is the point of the model: there is no bad angle, so it does not have to stand against a wall.
Finished at the back
Most sofas are built on the assumption that the back is never seen, and it shows in how they are covered. Helen's back is cut, seamed and eased to the same standard as the front. That makes it one of the pieces we specify for the middle of a room, as a divider between a sitting area and a dining area, or at an angle in a corner where both faces are visible.
A quiet form
Clean lines, balanced proportions, generously padded seat and back cushions, and no applied detail anywhere — no tufting, no piping, no visible hardware. On a sofa like this the seams are the only drawing, so the panels are cut to land the stitch lines where the eye expects them and the edges are eased by hand.
Leather or fabric
Made to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric, including a fabric you supply yourself. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. Stitching and cushion firmness are specified at the time of order.
Sizes
Helen is produced to order and the dimensions are confirmed per project — width, seat depth and back height are all open. The proportions are re-drawn with any change rather than stretched. COM projects accepted.
Where it belongs
A living room, a hotel lounge, an executive waiting area, an open-plan floor that needs dividing. It is a background piece by design, which makes it the right choice when something else in the room is meant to be the subject.
