GLORIA ARMCHAIR

Gloria is a full-size lounge chair on a swivel base — 90 cm wide, 95 cm deep, 100 cm high — with curved arms and piping along the seams. It is the largest of our three swivel chairs and the only one built at full lounge proportions. Shown in dark grey, dark brown and brown.

A swivel at this size

Most swivel chairs are small, because a large one is harder to balance and heavier to turn. Gloria is the full-size version: a 95 cm seat and a 100 cm back that encloses the shoulders, on a metal base engineered for that weight so it still turns smoothly with you in it. That combination — a chair you can spend an evening in that also faces whichever way the room is working — is the reason to choose it.

Gloria, Jane or Hola

All three swivel. Hola is an 80 cm fabric cube with piping and straps; Jane is the same cube in plain leather; Gloria is the big one, and the only one that works as the main chair in a room rather than an accent. Worth choosing on size before anything else.

Piping on a curved form

A piped edge is a cord sewn into the seam, and on curved arms it has to be eased round without a pucker. It does the drawing here — on a chair with this much volume and no tufting, the piping is what keeps the shape legible from across a room, and it holds the edge crisp as the foam settles.

Leather or fabric

High-density foam over a kiln-dried beech frame, hand-assembled. Any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or fabric. Genuine leather only. Stitching, piping and cushion firmness specified at the time of order.

Where it belongs

A living room, a high-end lounge, an executive office. It needs floor around it to turn in — in a tight corner the swivel is wasted.
