COMPASSO TV UNIT & BOOKSHELF

A wall-length unit joining media storage and open shelving, built to the wall's own dimensions.

Compasso is a wall-length unit that puts media storage and open shelving into one composition, made to the length and the height of the wall it will occupy rather than to a catalogue size.

Built to the wall

The balance between closed storage and open shelving, the number of modules, where the screen sits in the grid and how the cables are routed are all decided during the order. On a piece that fills a wall this is not a refinement — a composition that ends in a narrow offcut at one end is the fault you would look at every day. The measurements to send are the clear wall width and height, the depth you can give up, and the screen size if there is one.

Grain across a full wall

Compasso belongs to our wood collection, built in walnut, oak and anigre. The finish is applied by hand so the grain stays legible and continuous across the full run — which matters more here than on any other piece we make, because a wall-length unit is the largest single area of timber in the room. Veneer leaves are matched and laid in sequence; bought as separate panels they would not line up.

In the room

A unit of this length sets the proportions of the wall behind the seating, so it is usually specified alongside the sofa rather than after it. Our sofas and coffee tables can be finished to match, from the same timber.

Craftsmanship and lead time

Sitdesign has made furniture in its own Istanbul workshop since 1983. Every piece is assembled, sanded and finished by the same team, and nothing leaves the workshop before it has been checked by hand. Wood pieces are typically ready in 6–8 weeks; the exact lead time depends on the scope of the project.

Where it belongs

A living room wall, an open-plan apartment, a study, an office. It wants the whole wall — in a short run the composition loses its logic.
