In context
Coin is named for its base: a single cylindrical pedestal, the shape of a coin set on edge, carrying a slim circular top. The set is a wide central table with smaller side tables echoing it, and the frames are covered in leather.
A leather-covered table
This is unusual and it is the reason to choose Coin. The cylindrical base is upholstered in hide rather than painted, veneered or lacquered, which means a table that matches a leather sofa exactly — same batch, same shade — instead of sitting near it in a different material. It also means the base warms with use the way the sofa does, rather than staying inert.
The pedestal
A single central column does two practical things that legs cannot. There is nothing to knock a foot against, from any angle, which matters on a table people walk around. And it puts no leg in the way of a chair or a sofa edge, so the table can be pushed closer than a four-legged one. The column is wide enough to carry a stone or glass top without a counterweight.
Contrast as the design
Heavy base, thin top. The whole composition rests on that difference: the pedestal is solid and the surface above it is as slim as the material allows, so the top appears to float. On a set, the proportion is repeated at two sizes, which is what makes the group read as one family rather than three separate tables.
Materials and sizes
Leather-covered base, in any of seventy-six shades across twelve leather families, matched to a sofa if required. Top material, finish and diameters are specified per project; made to order, like everything we build. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product.
Where it belongs
A contemporary living room, a lounge, a hospitality project. It is at its best in front of a leather sofa in the same hide, which is the version almost nobody else can offer.
