CHIMBA ARMCHAIR

Chimba has a leather pocket on its side. The silhouette is otherwise clean-lined and generously cushioned — 80 cm wide, 88 cm deep, 75 cm high — and the pocket is the one applied element on it. Shown in black, dark brown and brown.

The side pocket

It holds a book, a tablet, a remote, reading glasses. That sounds minor until you live with a reading chair that has nowhere to put the thing you are reading; then it becomes the reason you sit in this one. It is cut from the same hide as the chair and stitched to the outside of the arm, so it reads as part of the design rather than an accessory bolted on.

Deep seat, low back

88 cm of depth against a 75 cm back is a lounging proportion, not a working one: you sit back into it rather than upright. High-density foam under the cushions keeps that depth usable — a soft filling at this depth sinks in the middle within a year and the seat stops supporting you where it matters.

Leather

Kiln-dried beech frame, hand-assembled and dried before upholstery. Upholstered to order in any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or in fabric. Genuine leather only. Leather type, stitching and cushion firmness specified at the time of order; the pocket can be made in a contrasting hide.

Proportions

80 × 88 × 75 cm — narrow across the front, deep front to back, so it reads as a compact chair while giving a full lounge seat. Adjustable per project.

Where it belongs

A reading corner, a study, a hotel room, a lounge where people stay a while. It wants a lamp beside it and a side table it will not actually need.
