CHARYTON CONSOLE

Charyton is a console wrapped entirely in leather, with the stitching done by hand. There is no wood or metal showing anywhere — the whole body is upholstered, which is unusual on a case piece and is the reason to choose it. 131 × 53 cm, 94 cm high.

A leather-wrapped body

Upholstering a console is harder than upholstering a sofa. A sofa has soft edges that absorb a slight error; a console is all flat planes and sharp corners, so every seam has to run dead straight and every corner has to turn without a gather or a bulge. The stitching is visible on purpose — it is the only drawing on the piece, and it is where the work shows.

94 cm: hall height, not sofa height

Console height decides the job. At 94 cm the top is at standing height, which makes this an entrance or corridor piece — keys, post, a lamp, a mirror above it. It is too tall to stand behind a sofa; for that, Akropolis at 68 cm or Olympos at 73 cm is the right piece. We would rather say so before the order.

53 cm deep

Deeper than most consoles, which gives a usable surface rather than a ledge — but it needs the corridor width to carry it. In a hallway under 1.4 m, a shallower piece such as Sign at 40 cm is the safer choice.

Materials and sizes

Dimensions listed above; made to order. Any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, with the stitch pattern specified at the time of order — and it can be matched to a sofa or dining chairs in the same hide. Genuine leather only. Handcrafted in our Istanbul workshop.

An entrance hall, a hotel lobby, a corridor, a sophisticated office. In a room that already has a leather sofa, it is the piece that ties the scheme together.
