BRUTAL SOFA

Brutal is a structured, squared sofa with accent piping run along its edges. The form is blunt by design — flat planes, hard corners, no curve to soften it — and the piping is what keeps it from reading as a plain box. Upholstered in leather.

The piping

A piped edge is a cord sewn into the seam. On a squared form it does two jobs: it draws every edge of the sofa so the geometry reads from across a room, and it holds that edge crisp as the foam settles underneath. In a contrasting colour it turns the sofa into an outline; in the same leather it is a quiet texture. That choice is made at the time of order and it changes the piece completely.

Squared, and kept squared

Kiln-dried beech frame, cut and jointed before anything is upholstered. High-resilience foam, specified firm — on a form with corners this hard a soft filling rounds them off within months and the whole idea goes. It is a firm sofa and it is meant to be.

Leather

Any of seventy-six leather shades across twelve families, or fabric, including a fabric you supply yourself. Genuine leather only; no faux leather is used in any Sitdesign product. A smooth hide shows the piping most clearly; a brushed or textured leather softens it.

Sizes

Made to order. Widths, depth and seat height are set per project, and the piping is re-run with any change so the lines stay true to the new proportion. COM projects accepted.

Where it belongs

A contemporary home, a luxury office, a bold hospitality interior. It suits concrete, steel and plain plaster, and it is the wrong sofa for a soft, decorated room.
