Ulus Ev Projesi

An apartment in Ulus, on the hill above Beşiktaş. Sit Design furnished the living and dining rooms, designed in 3D and made in our own Istanbul workshop.

The plan gives the flat two seating areas and one long dining room, and the scheme changes temperature between them. The first sitting room is pale — cream upholstery, tall shelving bays either side of the windows, a glass and steel table — with a single dusty pink chair as the only colour. The second turns warm: tan leather swivel chairs, an olive armchair, a low timber wall unit carrying the television beneath indirect light.

The dining room is the darkest room in the flat and deliberately so. A heavy timber table on a solid base sits on a pale rug against panelled walls, with a large abstract canvas and an arc floor lamp doing the work that a chandelier would usually do.
