Design Story

Located in the distinguished Ulus district of Istanbul, this residential project reflectsSD Studio’s signature blend of modern comfort and timeless style. The focus of the design wasthemain hall, which was carefully conceptualized and divided into two essential zones: asitting areaand adining area.

Project Q&A.

By creating two distinct zones—seating and dining—within the same area, using layout, furniture, and wall treatments as subtle dividers.

It served both functional and decorative purposes—providing visual depth and acting as a gallery for curated artwork.

These materials evoke warmth, serenity, and timelessness—ideal for a home meant to feel lived-in yet luxurious.

Living Room

The living room was designed as awarm and tranquil retreat, with an emphasis onlight color palettesandnatural wood textures. This calming atmosphere is enhanced by thelayout, which smoothly separates theseatinganddining zoneswhile maintaining anopen and cohesive aesthetic.

Dining Area

The dining space stands out with a wall-mounted lathing system, adding architectural interest and texture. This wooden backdrop was further enriched with select paintings, introducing color and artistic expression.

A large wooden dining table anchors the area, paired with oversized armchairs to ensure style and comfort during gatherings.

“For me, this project was about crafting a sense of peace within luxury. I wanted to create a living area that felt calming yet sophisticated—where you could host guests or simply relax with a book. The lathing wall with artwork added personality to the space, while every seating piece was designed for real living. Seeing it all come together in Ulus reminded me why we do what we do—designing homes that reflect the soul of those who live in them.”
